• A skin tag near the vaginal opening or a skin tag on the labia may be a common skin tag, fibroepithelial polyp, cyst, or genital wart.
• A growth located inside the vagina should be examined to determine whether it arises from the vaginal wall, cervix, or another structure.

What Causes a Skin Tag Near the Vaginal Opening?

1. Common Skin Tag (Skin Tag / Acrochordon)

A common skin tag is a soft piece of tissue that protrudes from the skin. It is usually skin-colored or slightly darker and may occur in areas exposed to friction, such as the groin or labia majora.

2. Fibroepithelial Stromal Polyp

A fibroepithelial stromal polyp is a rare, usually benign growth that may occur on the vulva or inside the vagina.

Is Vulva Skin tag / Labia Skin Tag Dangerous?

If the doctor examines the lesion and it appears to be a typical skin tag without concerning symptoms, removal may not be necessary unless it causes friction, irritation, or cosmetic concerns.

Further investigation, such as a biopsy for pathological examination, may be recommended if the lesion does not look like a typical skin tag.

Warning signs include rapid growth, ulceration, bleeding, changes in color, uneven pigmentation, poorly defined borders, or an unusual shape.
